This profile is here for historic value only. At one time (around 1999) Truepunk hosted this bands site. This profile contains most of what that site once had.
1)When did TBE start?
We started practicing in September of 98.
2)What are the members (full names, instruments)?
I, Adam Nigh, play bass and lead vocals. Andy Snyder plays guitar, and Sammy
Nigh, my brother, plays the drums.
3)What made you start TBE?
I had wanted to start a band like this where I could do the lead vocals for
years before finally doing it. I have been playing in bands for about 9
years and while I had done lead vocals in a few of them for a while, those
bands never really got off the ground. I wanted to do a band like this for a
long time but I could never get the right kind of musicians together to do
it. While I was in Craig's Brother, I told Andy about my dream of doing
something this and he said he'd like to be a part of it. So we set out in
search of a drummer and it turned out we didn't have to look very far. I
told my brother Sammy that Andy and I were starting a band and that we were
moving away from the new school punk sounds that we were playing in Craig's
Brother and going more for a straight forward hooky rock sound and he said
he'd play the drums for us. With Andy and Sammy on board, I knew I finally
had the right people to start the kind of band I always wanted to be in. So
here we are.
4)Where and at what kind of venues have you played?
So far, we've played some pretty funky shows. We played an awesome pizza
parlor/gas station/arcade and then last week we played a hip/hop club for 700
drunk snowboarders so that was fun. Basically, we're looking forward to
getting out on tour with MxPx and playing some great shows.
5)Describe TBE musical style?
I'd call our music, like I said to Sammy, straight forward hooky rock. I'm a
little afraid to use the word punk, but the shoe does fit. It's pretty
aggressive, but still pretty moody.
6)What or who are your musical influences?
The influences that affect this band most are ALL, Descendents, and the
Ramones. I listen to a lot of other music besides punk and I think that
helps give us a different sound than a lot of punk bands. Andy and I both
have pretty strong roots in metal that affect our music a lot. We are both
big Metallica guys. I also listen to a lot of 80's stuff like U2 (my all
time favorite band), The Police, Men at Work, Madonna, Cindy Lauper, UB40,
and lately I have been getting more into the Cure.
7)What sets TBE apart from other bands?
I think we have a pretty high standard of what we want to sound like. We
always want things to sound as good as they possibly could. We're not happy
sounding like other punk bands. Our non-punk influences do a lot to help
give us our own identity as a band. I think we've begun to mold our own
sound on this album and I'm confident that we'll be stretching that mold
farther and farther outside of the punk boundaries on later albums to really
establish a sound that is uniquely ours.
8)What are your songs about (lyrically)?
Andy and I tend to write about people a lot. Almost all of our songs are
about relationships. I write about my relationships with my friends, with my
family, with my wife, with God, and with mankind in general. We write about
what we're dealing with. My favorite songs lyrically are ones that touch
deeper feelings and deal with spiritual and emotional stuff like Hypothetical
and Q&A. I love how music can make people feel when it gets into those kinds
of things. Of course, we do get into the shallower end of the pool with
stuff like We Rock and Cure Little Ex Con
9)What do you like best about TBE?
My favorite thing about TBE is how easily it is to work with three guys that
really get along. We've all been playing music for a long time so it's
really easy to get every one on the same page pretty quickly when you've got
a new idea. I think this bands has a lot of musical ability coupled with
good musical taste to use that ability well. I like just about everything
about this band. I really love the guys in the band, we're all somewhat
seasoned musicians, and I really like the sound we have going.
that's about it Adam and any other info that you think might be useful is
appreciated...
also if you guys have any reviews in anything id love to get them...
