Sparks The Rescue
The Secrets We Can’t Keep
Double Blind Music

Can you believe I have never been excited to hear a new and unknown band like I have been with Spaks The Rescue ? It’s true. Their brand new EP “The Secrets We Can’t Keep”, which will be available in a digital only form and can be bought at the link below on Download Punk, is a six song example of how six guys can play insane screamo rock music. I know, you will be thinking that screamo rock is boring and over-crowded with useless band that think more about haircuts and t-shirts than music, and I totally agree. But this is not the case of Sparks The Rescue.

The recipe of Sparks The Rescue is simple: take one mic-swinging vocalist who throws himself to the floor, the crowd, the walls, and into his band mates. Add two in-synch guitarists who provide vocals and an insane amount of movement as they shred and toss their instruments around with guided precision. We’re almost there… Add a bassist with an impressive set of lungs providing screams, and a rock-solid drummer holding it all down. Mix in one self-proclaimed “sorta awkwardly dancing around the stage” utility man, keeping up constant energy, adding vocals while running back to his synth and hammering the keys. All of this can be found on the new EP, which is a great mixture of various elements, all mixed together to create something new, really fresh and unique, that I never heard before. The band mixes a lot of dancing melodies with heavy guitar riffs, almost metal, to fuse everything with synths and amazing vocals. Each song is different and the EP never bored me, and especially on songs like “Getting Clean in the Dirty South”, which is fast. heavy and melodic at the same time, or “Saco Boys Have No Class”, which is harmonic and truly inspiring. The single “Nurse! Nurse! (I’m Losing My Patients)” is a mix of Saosin’s melodies and Fear Before The March Of Flames’ fury, but the changing of times and rhythms is absolutely unique. The production is top notch and I think I never heard a screamo rock band sounding so clean and precise.

The digital EP comes with the bonus video for “Nurse! Nurse! (I’m Losing My Patients)” and is a must-see video.

Sparks the Rescue’s debut quakes with fuzzy hooks and unpredictable off-tempo guitar riffs. “The Secrets We Can’t Keep is all  screemo and all raw, while keeping an up-beat. “The Scene: Your Bedroom” gets insane after a minute into the song, keeping you guessing with unexpected beats and raw emotion-jetting vocals.

I’m not really a fan of screemo, but if you are, this album is worth listening to, as Sparks The Rescue’s strained vocals works well enough amid the gritty, gutter licks and almost martially pounded drums.
