The Serpenteens have been nice enough to lease a new album following their blazing life taking CD “Dead Men Walking”.  Superhuman Monstershow is just as intense as their previous album; hell maybe even better.  It’s really hard to compare 2 awesome albums by a single band, so lets just say both album has knocked me on my ass.

The lyrics are just brilliant and are easily followed up with a sound that will take your life and make you rise from the dead just to hear it one more time.

You will sing along with this entire album and I can only imagine what these guys must be like live.  If you like rocking horror punk / rockabilly

Bad ass fast and heavy punk rock! Leave your emotions out side of the venue, get yourself a beer and jump around to some kick ass rock and roll.  Nothing says punk rock like power cords, rocking lyrics and a crunchy snotty sound.

I love these guys, total old school sound, with a few random unexpected songs thrown in to the mix to kind of throw you off.

If you live in the Pittsburgh area you need to see these guys live, if not you need to get their CD.  Check them out on myspace www.myspace.com/drunkby6 to see what I’m talking about.

COG is a noisy hard hitting release  by Course Over Ground.

COG formed in 1997  in Croatia  and put out 2 demos before disbanding (Puppet Play and Beef Eater).   The band reformed 2 years later and put out their third released a third album.

Now Course Over Ground is releasing their debut self titled album which was well worth the wait!  It’s very rare I get to hear music from other countries and when I do I am normally blown away by what I hear.  Really this band comes up with a great unique sound compared to other noisy rock bands.

  5. Truckers and Railroads

Wow!

A ska punk band that still puts out albums?  And they freaking rock!  I’m serious “Secrets Don’t make Friends “ will blow you away over and over again with their fast pace energy that will keep you dancing with every listen.

This is the 2nd release by Third Grade Scuffle which was released in 2006 (I just recently received it for review) following their first release “Building is a Process” in 2004.

Third Grade Scuffle just recently returned from tour so I can only hope a new release will be put out by this amazing band.  If you like ska with pop punk / hardcore punk sound, kick ass lyrics and a CD that you will listen to over and over again you need to check out Third Grade Scuffle.  I haven’t heard their first release but hell get them both, it has to be a great album too!

Celebration for the bride

Charlie Hustle “celebration for the bride” is an intense and abrasive first release.  The songs are intense with a post hardcore / hard rock style while still very dynamic and intriguing to the first time listener. The album is a bit short but the songs do have a high replay value so I wouldn’t worry about getting bored with this album.

This is a great (first release?) by Charlie Hustle, and I would suggest checking them out if you have a chance live. I think many people could be blown away at a live show by Charlie Hustle.  They come off as the type of band that can really put on an intense and powerful show.

  1. Barlow

  2. Themes in Dress

  3. Broken Butterfly

  4. Tweed

  5. Gorilla Meadows

The Way Things Are

My Big Beautiful new album “the way things are” is the 2nd full length album put out by the band since they reunited in 2003.  The band had previously broken up in 1996 with the vocalist moving onto other projects for nearly 7 years. Prior to this the band had been formed in 1993 when they had put out one other full length album.

The way things are is a pretty cool album with kick ass lyrics with  poppy and sometimes aggressive sounds and style.  This band isn’t your traditional pop punk band.  They have a more traditional early 90’s pop punk meets rock sound which is nice with so much pop punk sounding the same with different song titles.

Check these guys out if you’re a traditionalist that enjoys great sounding music.  If you trip on your baggy pants or wear your hat tilted to the side you won’t enjoy this album, but then again you most likely don’t enjoy good music to begin with.

Track Listing

  1. The triumphant return of the kid with the misspelled name

  2. Prove ‘em all wrong

  3. Running on empty

  4. People, places and things

  5. Do something right for once

  7. The strongest signal

  8. Turned it all around

  9. Duality

  10. Last night’s great idea

Paxtin 5 song EP

Sunday, July 1st, 2007

This is the first release (5 song unnamed EP) by the band Paxtin.  There is very little information about these guys from what I was able to find.  All I know is their a 3 piece indie band from Salt Lake City Utah.

So far these guys are off to a good start.  The album is clean and enjoyable and has a very well thought out flow between sappy and a little angry through the songs.

If you like indie music these guys could be  fun for you to check out.  The album is only $6.00 on their site but only has 5 songs.

The moment

Release May 15th

The Moment is the first release by Framing Hanley with only a 2 song demo being the only other release put out which you cant really count.  The band spent “months” in the studio recording this album so as you can guess the quality is top notch.  Every bit of music has been remove and processed and recorded and generated into your standard perfect recording.

For the first release of a band this album is a really great start.  I mean it is very well done for a first release. The lyrics are pretty cool but a little sappy. And musically the band shows huge potential and are very capable of making some really technical sound.  Unfortunately the band falls into a very generic style of music like sevendust and Breaking Benjamin.

If you like radio friendly, high quality rock then hey you will really like these guys. It’s not bad at all, some people will really think these guys kick ass, but other people will just be bored with the style of music to come off playing.
