Fast, abrasive, harsh and fucking brilliant.  Know the score has an intense and cunning sound and style in modern day hardcore.  All Time low is an all around great band with great abilities and I am great a great stage presence.  I’m sure their shows are as aggressive as their music is with the kids incapable of keeping up with the brutality that comes from know the score.

The State is a hard and realistic release from By Autumns End.  This album is as dark and pissed as it is hard and terrific.  Not only are the lyrics well thought out the band knows their way around a stage and their style is very clean and entertaining.

My Dear

Sunday, June 3rd, 2007

My Dear is the second release by New years day following their self titled EP in 2006.

My dear is as elegant and beautiful as their lead singer Ashley Costello.  But this bands not just a pretty face. This album is as charged with energy as it is tragic.  With songs about heartbreak you need songs about moving on, or about the acceptance you need to sooner or later deal with before you can move on.  This album captures these ideas in a very poppy fashion in stead of in your traditional emo self pity you would expect from an album derived from heartbreak.

The track Ready Aim Fire is simply extraordinary.  With upbeat guitar and vocals yet lyrically the song is brutal  and ferocious.

We wont march

Speaker speaker  “we won’t march” has a very enjoyable poppy antum style though the entire album.  The first song “We won’t march” Really reminded me of The Strike, with other songs following suite to Jawbreaker. This new album is a very refreshing and energetic with a sound I haven’t heard in any new releases rescently.

Unfortunately the album is short, with only 5 songs, 2 of which are live, and a Jawbreaker cover.

Scenes of Ab andoned Industry

Scenes of Abandoned Industry is the first release by Juhu Beach following their previous project “old Crimes” in 2006.

Scenes of Abandoned Industry is kind of like if you mixed Fugazi with Modest mouse, minus all the suck of Modest mouse.  The sound has a sort of punk meets emo without all the whining and crying you would normally expect from the emo side.  The bands sound is very powerful and cultivate.

The Johnbenders

This self titled EP is only 3 tracks but each song is very enjoyable. This album was recorded in late 2006 following up a previous release in 2005 “the Single Sided Conversation”.

All 3 songs are very modern rock / emocore with slow rhythmical instrumentals and stylish lyrics.  Really with only 3 songs the album wouldn’t be worth ordering, but with it released on such sites as itunes you shouldn’t have a problem checking them out and downloading the songs.

All in all these guys should be interesting in the future and do show some real promise with their musical abilities.

Mach One

She Wolves consists of some pretty big names from some of punk rocks most important roots from most likely before you were born.  Former Cycle Slut from hell, Donna She Wolf, and former G.G. Allin and Dee Dee Ramone drummer Tony Mann.

Mach One also includes collaborations with original New York Doll Sylvain Sylvain, Jayne County and Deb o’Nair.

I can’t think of any way to describe how awesome this album is without using the word awesome in every other sentence.  It’s so traditional and rocking it might just be too much rock in one CD.

This album also has tribute songs like “Sheena is a Punk Rocker (The ramones) and “California Uber Alles” (Dead Kennedys).  With every other song capable of getting your foot tapping or your head nodding.  Their new take on “California Uber Alles” will keep you rocking and laughing time and time again!

Hospice is the second full length release by Achilles following up “The Dark Horse”.

This album is brilliant, lyrically as well as vocally. Very heavy with out of control riffs and hooks though nearly every song.  Though the entire album every song seems to build up and off from the previous.

“Dear Old Tyger that Sleeps” is a stunning example of the intensity this band follows though with this album.  I was very surprised to hear that this release is only the second release for this band.  Achilles has a sound that comes off as something that has been built on and changed over years, not just 1 album!

Onward Anthem

The Burning Season “Onward Anthem” follows their previous release “The Haze of Infatuation”.  Through the bands 6 years existence they have played shows with the likes of The Agony Scene, As I lay Dying and Haste the Day.

Onward Anthem was a very enjoyable album but didn’t blow me away.  They style and sound is similar to many bands that have also been releasing new work lately, a good example would be From Autumn to Ashes; which if you do enjoy their latest work then Onward Anthem is something you should really pick up.  With so many new metalcore bands releasing new albums this summer it will be very to be blown away.  I guess I was really expecting a lot more from The burning Season.  Don’t get me wrong, the album is very well done and enjoyable but I suspect that much of the metalcore this summer will be considered very bland and unchanged from last  year.

Ghettoblaster

Sunday, June 3rd, 2007

Hoods “ghettoblaster” is the first release on Eulogy Recordings following previous releases on Stillborn Records and Victory Records.  The hoods have been putting out music for nearly 12 years and still have the raw power and force in their music to keep coming out with amazing records.

This album is a very great all around album.  The songs range back and forth between gritty punk rock to dark and aggressive hardcore.   Ghettoblaster has a little something for everyone, and if you enjoy sing-a-long punk rock, pissed off lyrics and some hardcore stomping music then your going to enjoy this album.
