Fat Wreck Chords lower all prices to under $10

May 1, 2009 by urbn

fatwrechchordslogoVery surprising news coming from one of the larger punk labels out there. Fat Wreck have decided to lower all their prices on al CD’s to under $10.00. Not a sale, not for this week only but as a permanent change to help out the punk bands who are putting out music these days.

Say what you will about fat Wreck (as I know many people who do not like them or their bands) but this is kind of suprising and unexpected. I tip my hat to you Fat Mike.

From Fat Mike on the NOFX European tour:
“Oh, this is the important news: the NOFX record comes out today. What’s more important is that it will be priced under $10 in every store in North America. This is not a sale. This is how much this CD costs, and not only that, but EVERY CD on Fat Wreck Chords will now be under $10 and most will be under $8.

No, we are not crazy. We just think that having a very low CD price is a fair way for scene supporting music fans to support their favorite independent bands and labels. Sound crazy? I think it sounds reasonable. We make less profit, but bands hopefully will sell more CDs to more people, which is why we started doing this in the first place. ”

    1. [...] This song will never cease to be epic. Although I discovered this jam on the same Punk-O-Rama 2 compilation that turned me on to Millencolin I just never got into NOFX at the time. Years later I got this album, and a few others, but NOFX just never lived up to my love for “Didi” (brilliant lyrics here). It is a pretty fantastic album cover and the alternately titled vinyl version is not to be ignored either. Yikes. In other news, NOFX’s frontman, Fat Mike, runs the label Fat Wreck Chords, who just promised that all their albums will sell for under $10, and most under $8. NOFX’s 2009 LP, Coaster, was the first under the very cool and smart new pricing policy (which you can read more about here). [...]
