Converge

Sunday, January 20th, 2008

Ask Kurt Ballou from veteran Massachusetts bruisers Converge about the band’s early days and you can almost feel the wince of embarrassment down the phone line. Forming the group as a teenager in the early 90s with vocalist Jake Bannon, they performed Minor Threat and Suicidal Tendencies covers before eventually mustering enough gumption to pen their own material, songs perhaps better left unwritten, according to Ballou.

Avenged Sevenfold

Friday, June 16th, 2006

“City Of Evil” is the name of Avenged Sevenfold’s new album, the first one for a major label. After two amazing discs on Hopeless Records, “Sounding The Seventh Trumpet” and “Waking The Fallen”, the Californian quintet is back in action with their strongest disc ever: filled with anthems from five minutes to ten minutes of epic metal riffs, piano ballads, flamenco rhythms, an orchestra and even more, “City Of Evil” destroys everything you could imagine these guys play. They play rock! [emo mode on] ps: this is the 100th interview I ever did in my life, so, it means a lot to me. [/emo mode off]

Curl up and die

Thursday, September 5th, 2002

Curlupanddie can be considered one of the newest and most innovative bands of this year. “Unfortunately We’re Not Robots” was released not too long ago on Revelation, and it is an amazing example of music: metal riffs, screaming roaring vocals, violent and soft momenst thrown all together in one album, it shows how these four guys from Nevada can play some of the best tunes of metal influenced music. After a long time spent on tour, Mike stopped at Truepunk.com to tell us all about his band and their music.

GARRISON

Friday, May 24th, 2002

Garrison has just released on Revelation Records their new album “Be A Criminal” , one of the most intense rock album heard lately, with a lot of harmonies, intense lyrics and powerful chords. I was able to ask some questions to J.Morrisette, the drummer for the band, and he told me a lot of interesting things on the band ( also, where they get their name from ), their music and also some really funny tour-stories. Not to mention, he is real fun and he gave me the most “unexpected” answer … just read the first question and you’ll get it.
