Rise Against have over the years been an inspiring and influential punk band through the last 8 years. After 5 releases and touring throughout the world Rise Against have made a name for themselves as being a politically charged thought provoking group. Rise Against started in 1999 as Transistor Revold with former members of 88 fingers Louie and Baxter. The band put out a single self released record with the bands starting line up before signing to Fat Wrek Chords. In 2001 the band changed their name ot Rise Against and put out their first album “The Unraveling on Fat Wrek.
In 2002 the band focused on releasing their second album “revolutions per minute” which was finally released in 2003 followed up with massive touring with many of todays big named bands like NOFX, AFI, Strung Out and Sick of it All as well as joining up with Warped Tour which could be considered the starting point for the bands massive following and fan base. In 2003 Rise Against switched record labels and signed to Dreamworks Records and released their 3rd album “Siren Song of the Count Culture” in 2004 when Dreamworks was bought out by UMG and brought Rise Against to Geffen Records which unknown to me is owned by UMG. “Siren Song of the Counter Culture” is considered a somewhat unsatisfying release by the band and was the last album to be released by the group until 2006 when “The Sufferer & the Witness” was put out again on Greffen Records. This album was the breaking point of the band making it big into mainstream music. Though the bands following prior to this release was relatively low when compared to after the release it should be said the at this point had passed through the door of what can be expected of popular but with small fan bases. | INTERVIEWSOld Interview with Rise Against ALBUM REVIEWSSiren Song of the Counter Culture LYRICSVIDEOSNews |
Some of the bands best known songs are from The Sufferer & the Witness and is normally to this day one of the bands best known albums. During the month of October the band released their latest album “Appeal to Reason” which some consider the bands best album to date not due to record sales or popularity but in style and lyrical abilities. Through all of the bands releases, tours, and videos the bands political and lifestyle beliefs still stand strong even with the popularity boom the band has experienced in the last 3 years. The band; all of who are vegetarians and oppose animal cruelty help by bringing awareness to many organizations the band supports such as PETA and other groups that support animal rights. The bands political views which can be heard in every release and seen at their shows and video releases are what drive this band and could be considered the reason of the bands popularity after the last several years of political corruptions in the United States and around the world.
