The Mongoloids and their cartoon friends
The Mongoloids and their cartoon friends

In the late 1970s and 1980s Devo managed to create a unique, bizarre aesthetic for their band that set them apart from the mainstream separate from their music. In the same vein, The Mongoloids (their name itself a reference to a Devo song) have blended into their image and mythos a collection of oddly drawn science fiction and fantasy style characters like “Sporious” and “The Serf” who even have statistics akin to Dungeons and Dragons characters. And in addition their searing guitar solos and blasting chords have made them stand out musically as well.

Screaming out of the New Jersey hardcore scene, The Mongoloids blasted off with “Time Trials” off Eulogy Recordings in 2005 and have since followed up with “Assorted Music” on the same label. Their quirky straight-edge philosophy combined with a technicolor visual palette has resulted in a band ready to take on the 10 for $10 Tour after they recover from their European Tour.
