Ahhh…. NOFX. Whatta band. What a great, influential, important, amazing punk band. So many bands need to pay their respect to NOFX, it’s insane. I’m not gonna lie to you, this is going to be a completely biased review. When I got this cd, The Greatest Songs Ever Written (By Us), in the mail recently—a loud ""aw, fuck yeah!"" could be heard rumbling throughout my apartment complex. Any of you reading this on a website with the term ""punk"" in the title have to know about NOFX. If you don’t, you have water on the brain. But in all seriousness, if you don’t know anything about NOFX or at least have been meaning to check them out, this cd is a great place to start.
The Greatest… is a fairly decent sampling of all the classics from the past 6 or 7 NOFX albums, the ones that really matter. How they got it down to these 27 songs and only these 27 songs is beyond me. Some of my personal favorites that are on this cd are ""Linoleum"", ""The Separation of Church and Skate"", ""Its My Job To Keep Punk Rock Elite"", ""Stickin’ In My Eye"", ""All Outta Angst"", and ""Green Corn"".
A lot of you may be saying, ""Hey, douche bag. If you’re so enthusiastic about this album, why the hell didn’t you go out and buy it?"" That’s because if you’re a moderately sized NOFX fan, you already have all the cds which these songs come on. But the new song at the end is still vintage NOFX, but I’m sure you could download it somewhere if you were really opposed to buying this album. After listening to this album, one should go buy Punk in Drublic, followed by So Long and Thanks For All The Shoes, The Decline and then White Trash Two Heebs and a Bean, and then buy their whole damn catalog.
