These days the ska scene seems to be underground or at least not nearly as popular as it once was. It has been a very long time since I have heard or seen any ska bands (albums or shows). Bid D and the Kids Table is a band the ska scene really needs. The band consists of a total of 7 members all very talented and full of pop and energy. So many of the songs on this album are catchy and just makes you want to dance or at least tap your foot, and maybe a bit of head nodding. Taking a bit of time from your dancing you\' re going to want to check out the lyrics.
Many of the songs like "try out your voice" (political call to action), "hell on earth" (tolerance) and "breaking the bottle" (alcoholism). Personally lyrically I really enjoyed "Deadpan Face" (track 5) but the lyrical styling on the entire album is done so well. This is Bid D and the Kids Table first album with Side One Dummy. From my understanding the band has been a large believers in the DIY scene releasing and producing much of their own merchandise, stickers, fliers and albums. This album is very professionally done and was also produced by Mighty Mighty BossTones bassist Joe Gittleman. If you like ska you should check these guys out, but really if you like anything with a great beat or amazing lyrics you should check these guys out.
